Bute Island Foods has a long association with the FreeFrom Awards over the years, having been successful winners on numerous occasions. And 2020 appears to be no different, with three Sheese-branded products being nominated for awards in the Milk Product Alternatives category, along with five of our supermarket own-branded products.
The FreeFrom Food Awards, the UK’s only industry awards to free-from food, have been going for 12 years since 2008, and were to encourage innovation and to celebrate escellence in the free-from food industry. The awards are entirely independent, supported by sponsorship and entry fees only. Winners are entitled to use the FreeFrom Awards logo, which is a certification mark which shows the quality of the product. Food products which use the mark must be free from at least one of the 14 major allergens, and must be able to substantiate their claims with independent laboratory reports The judges are all independent professionals appointed by the FreeFrom Awards each year. And so the awards are truly independent, and are judged without bias – reassuring for consumers who are increasingly looking for quality free-from products.
For 2020, Bute Island Foods’ Grated Mild Cheddar Style Sheese – a previous Gold Award winner – has once again been nominated, along with our Grated Mozzarella Style Sheese and the newest product of this year’s nominations, our Grated Hard Italian Style Sheese. And with five of the products we also produce for supermarkets’ free-from own brands, we are hopeful for success once again in 2020.
This year, the award winners with be announced at a glamorous awards party on 28th April, to be held at the Royal College of Physicians in London. Watch this space for news of how we did!
