It’s always gratifying – and, at the same time, humbling – to be able to support the hard work of event organisers the length and breadth of the country. They are the ones who really deserve all the plaudits, with all their efforts to bring top quality products, producers, workshops, talks and entertainment to vegans and the vegan-curious. That is why here at Bute Island Foods we are always delighted to support these events, either through sponsorship or supplying free samples of our range of Sheese for tasting tables and cookery demonstrations.
Latest on the calendar of vegan events was the Welsh Vegan Winterfest, held on Sunday 8th December in the pillared grandeur of Cardiff City Hall. We were happy to supply samples of Sheese for tasting, joining a host of retailers, suppliers, chefs and entertainers bringing some joy on a cold December day. Among the highlights of the event was a talk given by the reformed addict John Anwen, who had turned his life around and embraced animal welfare to the full. John was diagnosed with heart failure in 2015, and yet has defied the odds by turning his life around, embracing compassion for animals. The story of his journey was riveting and emotionally heart-breaking at the same time. As well as giving hints and tips for a vegan Christmas, chefs Jane Easton and Helen Wilson also gave advice to those who were tempted to dip their toes into veganism, offering words of encouragement.
The Welsh Vegan Winterfest event was just one of a host of festivals and vegan fares around the country. Check out our extensive listings pages for news of events coming to a town near you. And with the lead up to Christmas, there will be plenty of opportunity to pick up some vegan and ethical products as presents.
